Stefanos Tsitsipas qualifies for the main draw of the Canadian Masters

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has successfully qualified for the main draw of the Canadian Masters in Montreal. Following an early exit at the Washington Open after a loss to Alex de Minaur, the 27-year-old athlete was forced to enter the qualifiers because his ranking at the time of tournament registration—following Wimbledon—had fallen outside the top 80. He currently holds the 51st position in the ATP world rankings.

In his qualification match held on August 1, 2026, Tsitsipas defeated Canadian Keegan Rice, ranked 831st globally, in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Although he faced some resistance in the second set, Tsitsipas maintained control to secure his spot in the tournament. This appearance marks his first time participating in a qualifying draw in eight years.

Tsitsipas now advances to the main draw, with his next match scheduled for either August 2 or August 3, 2026. His potential opponents in the main bracket include players such as Hubert Hurkacz and Adrian Mannarino, among others, depending on the tournament draw.
