Police discover weapons cache in Koutrafas area

On August 1, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police authorities discovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in an open area near the old Nicosia-Troodos road in the Koutrafas region. The discovery followed an evaluation of information received by law enforcement officials, which led them to the site.

The seized cache consists of one semi-automatic weapon, two pistols, two silencers, three magazines, and 66 cartridges of various calibers. All items were collected by the police and have been sent for forensic and scientific examination to determine their origin and potential links to criminal activity.

The Morphou Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) has taken charge of the case and is continuing the investigation to identify those responsible for hiding the arsenal. No arrests have been reported at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
