Small wildfire controlled near Monagri monastery

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, a wildfire broke out at 17:25 local time near the Saints Sergius and Bacchus Monastery in the village of Monagri, Limassol district. Due to the high-risk nature of the location, emergency services were mobilized immediately.

The fire was brought under full control within ten minutes of its emergence. A total of four fire engines were deployed, with two vehicles provided by the Department of Forests and two by the Fire Service, manned by a combined team of nine personnel. The blaze caused only minor damage to an area consisting of dry grass and low-lying vegetation.
