Paphos court allows father to attend son's funeral in UK
The Paphos Assize Court has granted a 37-year-old British man permission to temporarily travel to the United Kingdom to attend the funeral of his three-year-old son. The child tragically died after falling from a hotel window in Paphos. The father is currently facing criminal charges for alleged negligent supervision of his son during the incident.
Under the court's decision, the man's travel documents, which had been previously confiscated, will be returned to him. He is required to provide an additional bail bond of 10,000 euros to ensure his return to Cyprus. The court scheduled his travel for Wednesday, with the mandate that he must be back in Cyprus by September 14 to remain at the disposal of the justice system.
The proceedings, which previously saw a change in legal representation for the accused, have been adjourned until September 17. On that date, the defendant is expected to enter a formal plea regarding the charges of reckless or negligent conduct that resulted in the death of his child.
