Cyprus weather warning issued for high inland temperatures
The Department of Meteorology in Cyprus has issued a yellow weather warning for Monday, August 3, 2026. The alert is effective from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with inland temperatures expected to peak at 40 degrees Celsius. Seasonal low pressure is currently influencing weather conditions across the island, resulting in mostly clear skies. Winds are forecast to be variable and weak, turning southwesterly to northwesterly, with temporary gusts reaching 5 Beaufort along the southern coast.
Temperatures on the coast are expected to range between 31 and 34 degrees, while higher mountain areas will see highs of 30 degrees. The current weather pattern is expected to persist through Tuesday, with temperatures remaining slightly above seasonal averages. Meteorologist Andreas Chrysanthou noted that a slight drop in temperature is anticipated starting Wednesday; however, increased humidity will continue to cause discomfort for the public. While the drop in temperature might eliminate the need for further heat warnings, humidity levels will remain elevated throughout the week, maintaining the overall sense of heat stress.
