APOEL concludes pre-season training in the Netherlands and prepares for upcoming season
APOEL has concluded its summer pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, following a 1-2 friendly match defeat against Fortuna Sittard. Despite the loss, the performance of Spanish defender Joan Sastre, who scored with a direct free kick, was a notable highlight. Manager Nikos Papadopoulos used the match to evaluate the team's tactical development, noting areas for improvement in possession and offensive creation before the competitive season begins.
The team is now returning to Cyprus to shift focus toward final squad adjustments and upcoming friendlies. An open training session is scheduled for Wednesday at the THOI stadium, followed by a home debut against Kifisia on Saturday at the GSP Stadium. Additional matches are planned against Anorthosis on August 16 and Olympiacos on August 22, while a previously scheduled friendly against Karmiotissa has been cancelled.
Management is currently focused on finalizing the transfer roster. Negotiations for midfielder Facundo Perez remain ongoing with Lanus as the club seeks to fill key positions. With less than a month before the league start, leadership continues to search for an additional forward, a center-back, and a goalkeeper to complete the squad under the direction of Zisis Vryzas and coach Papadopoulos.
