Cyprus delivers humanitarian aid to Lebanon

The Republic of Cyprus has dispatched a humanitarian aid shipment valued at approximately €200,000 to Lebanon to address urgent medical needs. The cargo, consisting of 31 containers of pharmaceuticals and medical consumables, departed from the port of Limassol on July 26, 2026, and has already arrived at the port of Beirut. This contribution, coordinated by the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health through the CyprusAid program, brings the total humanitarian support provided to Lebanon by Cyprus in 2026 to €840,000.

In addition to the physical supplies, the Cypriot government announced a new initiative to provide scholarships to Lebanese citizens starting in September 2026. These opportunities will include both short-term professional training seminars and long-term higher education programs at Cypriot institutions. These measures follow a significant strengthening of bilateral relations since the election of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in January 2025. Following his inauguration, President Nikos Christodoulides became the first foreign leader to visit the newly elected president, and both nations have since focused on deepening diplomatic ties and providing regional support during times of crisis.
