Anorthosis commemorates the 21st anniversary of its historic qualification in Trabzon

On August 3, 2005, the Cypriot football club Anorthosis Famagusta achieved one of the most significant results in the history of Cypriot football by eliminating Turkish side Trabzonspor in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Led by player-manager Temur Ketsbaia, the team managed to secure a historic qualification despite a 1-0 defeat in the second leg in Trabzon, having secured a 3-1 victory in the first match at GSP Stadium.
