Greek football clubs learn European competition playoff paths

Following the latest UEFA draws, Greek clubs have finalized their potential paths to the group phases of European competitions. AEK Athens is set to face either Levski Sofia or Kairat Almaty in the Champions League playoffs, following Levski's 1-0 first-leg victory on August 4. Olympiacos also faces a potential playoff against the winner of Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodo/Glimt. In the Europa League, PAOK must overcome Anderlecht in the third qualifying round; if they succeed, they will play the loser of the Levski Sofia-Kairat Almaty tie. If PAOK loses to Anderlecht, they will transfer to the Conference League playoffs to face one of several potential opponents including Brann or Apollon Limassol.

Panathinaikos is currently competing in the Conference League third qualifying round against CSKA 1948. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg held on August 5 at OAKA, the decision will come down to the second leg in Bulgaria. If successful, Panathinaikos will face the loser of the Europa League match between Hradec Kralove and Besiktas in the playoffs. Player Andreas Tetei remains sidelined for the team due to infectious mononucleosis. The playoff rounds for these tournaments are scheduled for August 20 and 27.
