Cyprus government reports on aid for victims of the 2025 Limassol wildfires

The Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus has released an updated report on expenditures dedicated to supporting victims of the devastating wildfires that struck the mountainous region of Limassol in July 2025. As of June 30, 2026, the state has disbursed €23.2 million, which accounts for approximately 41% of the total €56.1 million Integrated Support Plan approved by the Council of Ministers. Officials emphasized that these funds were sourced exclusively from the state budget, keeping separate the €1.7 million in private donations collected from citizens and organizations.

Public contributions are earmarked for specific recovery initiatives: €800,000 is allocated for the purchase of 17 firefighting vehicles for affected communities, while the remaining €900,000 will fund local infrastructure projects. Additionally, the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations recently donated approximately €30,000 to purchase protective gear for volunteer firefighters. According to the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities, Charalambos Christofinas, of the roughly 980 residences damaged by the 2025 blazes, only eight cases remain pending for specialized support. Authorities are currently reviewing these final instances to ensure full coverage as recovery efforts continue across the region.
