Cleveland Cavaliers in contract negotiations with James Harden
The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially opened negotiations for a new multi-year contract with veteran guard James Harden. The 36-year-old athlete recently declined his $42.3 million player option, opting to pursue a long-term agreement that would keep him in Ohio for an additional two to three seasons.
Following a successful campaign where he averaged 23.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 8.0 assists across 70 games, Harden led the Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite their elimination by the New York Knicks, both the franchise and the eleven-time All-Star remain committed to extending their partnership as they look toward future competition.
