Frederick Institute of Technology launches accredited three-year paramedic programme

The Frederick Institute of Technology has officially launched a new three-year higher diploma programme for Paramedic – Ambulance Crew, following successful accreditation by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA). As the only programme of its kind in Cyprus, the curriculum was developed to align with recent national legislation governing the profession, aiming to bolster the healthcare system's emergency pre-hospital care capabilities.

Designed to meet the increasing demand for specialized emergency personnel, the new three-year course replaces the previous two-year model. Riana Constantinou, the Head of the Ambulance Service, highlighted that this educational upgrade is a critical step toward enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of emergency medical responses within the country. Graduates of the programme will receive a Higher Diploma, which qualifies them for official practice under the regulated framework of the profession.

The programme serves as the primary academic pathway for individuals seeking a career in the ambulance service in Cyprus. By standardizing training through this accredited course, the institution intends to ensure that all future ambulance crew members possess the standardized skills necessary for effective emergency intervention. The initiative marks a significant transition in the formal training requirements for pre-hospital care providers in the region.
