Man arrested in Limassol following violent parking dispute

A 40-year-old Greek Cypriot man has been placed in six-day detention by the Limassol District Court following an assault at a beach parking lot in the Amathounta area on August 2, 2026. The altercation involved a 48-year-old foreign national who reported that he was attacked by the suspect and several other individuals following a dispute over a parking space.

According to police investigations, the conflict began when the 48-year-old allegedly caused minor damage to the suspect's vehicle. A confrontation ensued, during which the 40-year-old and his accomplices allegedly assaulted the victim, resulting in a fractured nose and various bruises on his body. The victim further reported that the group threw a large stone at his car, causing significant damage. The victim required medical attention for his injuries.

Limassol CID continues to investigate the case, with ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend the remaining individuals who participated in the assault. The suspect remains in custody under a court-issued six-day detention order to facilitate the inquiry.
