Deputy Minister of Social Welfare conducts inspections in nursing homes

On August 3, 2026, the Cypriot Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Klea Papaellina, initiated a series of nationwide, on-site inspections at nursing homes. The primary objective of these checks is to ensure the health and safety of elderly residents during the current period of extreme heat. Following the visits, the Ministry officially announced that functional air conditioning systems were confirmed to be in operation at the inspected facilities.

During these inspections, Deputy Minister Papaellina emphasized that safeguarding the dignity, security, and quality of life for the elderly remains a top priority for the government. She noted that preventive measures and timely interventions are essential for protection during severe weather conditions.
