Larnaca police officer struck by motorcyclist during traffic stop

The suspect faces multiple charges, including causing actual bodily harm and reckless or dangerous driving, following an incident on the evening of July 31.
The incident took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Ankara Street, where a member of the Z-Team police unit attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop. The motorcyclist reportedly ignored the officer's signal to stop, accelerated, struck the officer, and subsequently fled the scene. The injured officer was transported by ambulance to the Larnaca General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a serious injury to his right arm before being discharged with medical instructions.
The Larnaca Traffic Department and the Petty Offenses Department are continuing their investigation into the case. The suspect is currently held in custody to facilitate further questioning.
