Cyprus tax department extends vat and vies submission deadline
The Cyprus Tax Department has officially announced an extension for the submission of VAT declarations and the payment of outstanding VAT for the period ending June 30, 2026. Additionally, the deadline for submitting the VIES (Vat Information Exchange System) recapitulative statement for July 2026 has been adjusted. The new deadline for both obligations is set for August 20, 2026.
This decision was made by the Tax Commissioner to facilitate taxpayers and professionals during the summer holiday period. The department explicitly warns that any submissions or payments processed after this new deadline will be considered late. Such delays will trigger financial penalties, including a 100-euro surcharge for the late filing of the VAT declaration and an additional tax of 10% on the outstanding VAT amount due. Taxpayers are advised to complete their filings before the August 20, 2026, cutoff to avoid these statutory penalties.
