Tax department extends VAT and VIES filing deadline to August 20

The Cyprus Tax Department has officially extended the deadline for the submission of VAT returns and the payment of related liabilities, as well as the submission of the VIES (Recapitulative Statement) form. The new deadline for both obligations is now set for August 20, 2026.

This decision, announced by the Tax Commissioner, is intended to assist taxpayers and professionals during the summer holiday period. The extension specifically applies to VAT declarations for the tax period ending June 30, 2026, and VIES statements for the month of July 2026. Both the Cyprus Tax Department and the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) have confirmed the adjustment.

After August 20, 2026, any filings or payments will be considered late. Late VAT declarations will incur a financial penalty of 100 euros, alongside an additional tax charge of 10% on the outstanding amount. The authorities advise taxpayers to ensure compliance before the new deadline to avoid these fiscal penalties.
