Road construction and traffic disruptions in Nicosia and Strovolos

The Nicosia Municipality announced that Griva Digeni Avenue will undergo road marking works on the nights of Wednesday, August 5, and Thursday, August 6, 2026. The road will be closed from 22:00 to 05:00. On August 5, the section between Prodromou and Agiou Prokopiou streets will be closed in the direction of Agiou Prokopiou, while on August 6, the same section will be closed in the direction of Prodromou. Drivers are advised to follow temporary road signage and police instructions.

Simultaneously, the Strovolos Municipality is conducting improvement works on Tseriou Street. Local residents have reported significant frustration, claiming that the lack of clear communication prevented them from moving their vehicles, leaving them trapped in their own driveways during the morning hours. While the municipality provided alternative routes via Konstandinoupoleos, Nikis, Nikou Xylouri, and Karditsas streets, residents argue the measures were poorly implemented.
