Prominent Cypriot orthopedist Dr. Nikos Maroudias passes away
The medical community of Cyprus is mourning the death of Dr. Nikos Maroudias, a distinguished orthopedist and former president of the Cyprus Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (KEHOT). His passing was announced on August 3, 2026, with the Cyprus Medical Association (PIS) and KEHOT issuing formal statements expressing their deep condolences to his family and recognizing his significant professional legacy.
Throughout a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Maroudias was instrumental in the development, scientific advancement, and institutional organization of KEHOT. He was highly regarded for his commitment to mentoring young orthopedists and supporting medical residents. Beyond his domestic work, he played a pivotal role in strengthening the international presence of the Cypriot orthopedic community and was a key contributor to the creation of the Mediterranean Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Medfort), which fostered scientific collaboration across the Mediterranean region and facilitated international medical conferences in Cyprus.
The funeral service for Dr. Maroudias is scheduled to take place today at the Holy Church of Timios Prodromos in Nicosia.
