APOEL seeks to bolster squad before league opener

APOEL is currently in the final stages of its pre-season preparations and is actively working to finalize its squad ahead of the upcoming championship opener against AEK Larnaca on August 29-30, 2026. Following the loan of Gabriel Pereira to Omonia Aradippou, the club is prioritizing the addition of an experienced goalkeeper to support existing options Belec and Andreas Christodoulou. The 33-year-old Cameroonian international Devis Epassy, who previously played for Karmiotissa and Dinamo Bucharest, has been identified as a key candidate for this position.

Simultaneously, the club is close to securing Argentine midfielder Facundo Perez from Lanus to strengthen the defensive midfield role. Coach Nikos Papadopoulos is overseeing these efforts while preparing the team through a series of friendly matches, including encounters with Kifisia on August 8, Anorthosis on August 16, and Olympiacos on August 22. Beyond these additions, the coaching staff is also evaluating the need for a classic center-forward to address depth concerns, particularly with Pieros Sotiriou sidelined until October. The management remains focused on completing these transfers to ensure the team is fully competitive for the season launch.
