Defects identified in new road section between Mesogi and Tsada

The Cyprus Public Works Department has announced that an uphill lane on the Paphos-Polis (B7) road remains closed due to surface irregularities identified during an inspection on July 30, 2026. The problematic section, located between the communities of Mesogi and Tsada, was constructed to improve traffic flow, but has not yet been formally accepted by the department.

The issue was publicly highlighted by Paphos MP Chrysanthos Savvides, who characterized the new pavement as uneven and dangerous in a social media post. In response, the Public Works Department confirmed that the contractor has been notified in writing and instructed to perform necessary checks and corrective work. Although the main road remains open, the additional uphill lane has been taken out of service to facilitate these repairs.

Following the inspection, the Paphos District Office of Public Works, in coordination with the department's central laboratory, scheduled further testing and measurements to evaluate the quality of the construction. The department emphasized that the project will not be officially received until all identified deficiencies are fully rectified. The area currently experiences heavy traffic due to the holiday season, making the resolution of these safety concerns a priority for local authorities.
