Inspection of Paphos-Polis road reveals asphalt irregularities
On July 30, 2026, the Department of Public Works in Cyprus conducted an inspection of ongoing paving improvements on the Paphos-Polis (B7) road. The assessment specifically targeted the newly asphalted sections, including the uphill lane near the communities of Mesogi and Tsada, alongside both lanes of the existing route.
During this technical audit, inspectors identified significant issues regarding the smoothness of the road surface. As a result, the additional uphill lane remains closed to traffic, while the existing main road continues to operate. The Department of Public Works confirmed that the project has not yet been officially handed over. The contractor has been formally notified and instructed to perform necessary testing and corrective works to meet required infrastructure safety standards. Local authorities, including the Paphos District Office of Public Works and the Central Laboratory, are coordinating the oversight of these repairs.
