Apollon Limassol in advanced talks to sign Joel Asoro
Apollon Limassol is in advanced negotiations to sign 27-year-old Swedish-Nigerian winger Joel Asoro. The player, who is currently on loan at Djurgårdens IF from French club FC Metz, has been identified as a key reinforcement for coach Hernan Losada’s attacking line. Asoro is versatile and capable of playing on both wings as well as the center-forward position. His current loan agreement with the Swedish side is scheduled to conclude on August 15, 2026.
Following reports of the negotiations, club spokesperson Fanourios Konstantinou publicly confirmed the ongoing talks, stating the team's desire to finalize the deal and bring the player to Cyprus. While the club remains focused on their ongoing UEFA Conference League third qualifying round tie against Norwegian side Brann, they are working to complete their roster requirements quickly. Asoro has previously played for clubs in England, Italy, France, the Netherlands, and Wales, providing significant European experience. It is expected that once current competitive fixtures conclude, the player will arrive in Cyprus to undergo medical examinations and finalize the transfer agreement.
