Cyprus issues yellow weather warning for extreme heat
The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for extreme high temperatures across inland areas of Cyprus today, August 4, 2026. The alert is active from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with maximum temperatures expected to reach 40°C. Seasonal low pressure continues to influence the region, resulting in generally clear skies throughout the day.
Temperatures in other regions are forecast to be 30°C on the west coast, around 35°C along remaining coastal areas, and 31°C in the higher mountains. Winds will generally be light at force 3 on the Beaufort scale, occasionally increasing to force 4, with potential gusts up to force 5 along the southern coast. Looking ahead, the weather is expected to remain mostly clear through Friday, with periodic cloud cover and a slight, gradual decline in temperatures toward seasonal averages.
