Man arrested in Delhi for the murder of his wife

A 53-year-old man, identified as Kamal Singh, was arrested in Delhi on Monday following the murder of his 50-year-old wife, who was a teacher. The crime occurred last Thursday at the couple's home in Jagatpuri. According to police reports, the victim was found by her son that same evening with multiple neck and back wounds, and a blood-stained pair of scissors was recovered from a bag at the scene. Investigations suggest the incident followed a prolonged property dispute between the couple.

Authorities state that after the attack, Singh withdrew approximately $7,300 from a bank account and fled the scene on a scooter. Security camera footage allegedly captured sounds of the struggle prior to his departure. Singh was apprehended on Monday while reportedly attempting to board a train; he was found in possession of about $13,400 in cash. Indian media outlets report that the suspect confessed to police, claiming he was inspired by the 2022 HBO crime series "The Staircase" while planning the murder. The case remains under investigation by local authorities as they process the evidence collected from the crime scene and the suspect's belongings.
