Dimitris Giannoulis returns to PAOK Thessaloniki

PAOK has finalized the acquisition of 30-year-old Greek defender Dimitris Giannoulis from the German club Augsburg. Following intense negotiations and the player's personal insistence on the transfer, an agreement was reached for a reported fee of 4.25 million euros including bonuses. The left-back arrived in Thessaloniki on August 5, 2026, to undergo medical examinations and sign his contract.

This move marks a return for the player to the club he left in January 2021 after 5.5 years. Giannoulis, who recorded 27 appearances with two goals and five assists in the Bundesliga last season, is expected to provide significant tactical depth for coach Alessio Lisci. The club moved quickly to integrate him into the squad, registering him on their UEFA list for the upcoming European matches against Anderlecht, replacing departing players in the process. He is now set to join his teammates to strengthen the team's defensive and offensive capabilities for the remainder of the season.
