21st World Athletics U20 Championships to be held in Eugene, Oregon

The 21st World Athletics U20 Championships are scheduled to take place from August 5 to August 9, 2026, in Eugene, Oregon, USA. This edition marks the 40th anniversary of the inaugural event, which was hosted by Athens, Greece, in 1986.

Cyprus has participated in every edition since the championship's inception, achieving notable results over the decades. Key performances include Ilias Loukas’ 6th place in the shot put at Seoul 1992, a 6th place finish for the men’s 4x100m relay team in Grosseto 2004, and Alexandros Poursanidis’ 4th place in the hammer throw at Barcelona 2012, where he narrowly missed the bronze medal by 11 points.
