Eurostat reports increase in online event ticket purchases across EU
Eurostat released figures on Tuesday showing a significant rise in digital ticket purchasing across the European Union in 2025. Data from the annual survey on information and communication technology usage reveals that 26.8 per cent of EU citizens purchased tickets for events, such as concerts and festivals, online during the three months preceding the study. This figure represents a 3.8 percentage point increase compared to 2024, signaling growing consumer confidence in digital sales channels.
Cyprus performed well above the EU average, with 34.1 per cent of its population buying event tickets online. Ireland recorded the highest adoption rate in the bloc at 51.5 per cent, followed by the Netherlands at 48.1 per cent and Denmark at 47.9 per cent. In contrast, the lowest participation rates were observed in Bulgaria at 11.4 per cent, Romania at 12.6 per cent, and Italy at 14.2 per cent. These statistics highlight a clear disparity in digital engagement across member states as the demand for entertainment activities remains consistently high throughout the summer season.
