Cyprus government reshuffle and regional developments

President Nikos Christodoulides has announced a partial government reshuffle, naming Evanthia Tsolaki as the new Minister of Transport and Christos Senekis as Minister of Agriculture. Additionally, Tina Pavlou will head the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, while Clea Hadjistefanou-Papavellina transitions to lead the Deputy Ministry of Culture. These appointments follow other administrative changes, including new commissioners for the environment and citizens' affairs.

In regional affairs, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler announced increased military readiness in Northern Cyprus, citing regional tensions and Cyprus's growing defense cooperation with Israel, Greece, and the U.S. Meanwhile, President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman are scheduled to meet on August 26 under UN auspices to continue settlement discussions. Regarding aviation, the Department of Civil Aviation refuted reports of flight delays over Cyprus, clarifying that while air traffic has increased due to the Middle East situation, local air traffic control is managing the load effectively.

Separately, the Nicosia regional self-governance body signed a water management memorandum with the Israeli company Mekorot to reduce water leakage. The government also introduced a new support framework for individuals with disabilities aged over 22, offering options for vocational training and employment starting in September.
