Larnaca airport restores road access to arrivals level
On August 4, 2026, Minister of Justice and Public Order Costas Fytiris convened a meeting with relevant agencies to address chronic traffic congestion at Larnaca Airport, particularly at passenger pickup and drop-off points. The discussion focused on improving coordination and service efficiency during peak periods.
Following this initiative, it was announced on August 6 that road access to the arrivals level will reopen to traffic. This area had been closed for several months, initially for security reasons following the outbreak of the war in Gaza, and subsequently due to airport expansion works. During this time, all traffic was diverted to the departures level, causing significant congestion and passenger inconvenience.
Restoration of access is the result of cooperation between the Cyprus Police, the Department of Public Works, and Hermes Airports. The change is expected to immediately ease the traffic burden at the departures level and streamline the transit process for drivers and arriving passengers.
