Armed man arrested at Donald Trump's California golf club

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele on Sunday, August 2, at a golf club owned by U.S. President Donald Trump in Rancho Palos Verdes. The suspect was observed taking photos and videos of security operations on the premises, prompting federal agents to alert local authorities. Taele was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. local time after deputies discovered a magazine containing hollow-point ammunition in his pocket.

A subsequent search of Taele’s vehicle revealed a loaded pistol with a round in the chamber and an additional loaded magazine. While some local news sources reported the pocket magazine contained 16 rounds, official department records stated he was booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of prohibited ammunition. He is currently being held without bail, and the case has been submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.

The arrest occurred just two days before President Trump visited the club on Tuesday, August 4, to attend a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner. Investigations by the Sheriff’s Department and federal counter-terrorism units are ongoing to determine the suspect's intent as he was actively monitoring security-planning activities prior to the President's arrival.
