Two men arrested in Nicosia for drug and weapon possession

On the afternoon of August 4, 2026, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) arrested two men, aged 51 and 47, in the Nicosia district on suspicion of drug-related offenses. The first suspect, a 51-year-old man, was stopped while driving, and a search of his vehicle yielded 90 grams of cannabis and a partially smoked cannabis cigarette.

In a related operation, authorities stopped a second vehicle driven by a 47-year-old man in Nicosia. A search of this vehicle revealed three pointed knives. A subsequent follow-up search of the 47-year-old's residence also led to the confiscation of unspecified items. Both individuals were taken into custody following their arrests.

The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court on the morning of August 5 to face procedures regarding detention orders. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the connections between the two cases.
