AEK Larnaca completes the signing of midfielder Kerim Mrabti

AEK Larnaca has officially finalized the signing of 32-year-old Swedish international midfielder Kerim Mrabti on a two-year contract. The deal was confirmed after the player successfully passed his medical examinations, following an initial agreement reached earlier in August 2026. Mrabti joins the Cypriot club as a free agent after spending the previous six seasons with the Belgian side KV Mechelen, where he registered 205 appearances, 37 goals, and 29 assists.

Chosen by sporting director Xavi Roca, Mrabti is expected to provide experience and creativity in the midfield, effectively filling the gap left by the departure of Markus Rodén. Throughout his career, the Swedish player with Tunisian roots has competed in the Swedish league with Djurgården, as well as in the English Championship with Birmingham City. His addition is seen as a pivotal move to strengthen the team's core rotation ahead of the new season.

Following this signing, AEK faces the need to adjust its roster to comply with the 17-player limit for List A, as the current count reaches 21. Reports indicate that management is looking to facilitate the departure of several players, including Komar and Henrique, while forward Jairo is linked with a loan move to Omonia Aradippou, and the status of Waldo Rubio and Yahav Gurfinkel remains under review.
