AEK Larnaca reaches agreement with Swedish midfielder Kerim Mrabti
AEK Larnaca has officially announced an agreement in principle with 32-year-old Swedish midfielder Kerim Mrabti for a two-year contract. The player is expected to arrive in Cyprus within the next 24 hours to undergo medical examinations and finalize the deal.
Mrabti, who is of Tunisian descent and a Swedish international with three caps, joins the team following the conclusion of his six-year tenure at the Belgian club KV Mechelen. During his time in Belgium, he was a key figure, appearing in 205 matches with 37 goals and 29 assists, including 34 appearances with five goals and three assists during the 2025-2026 season. Prior to his Belgian stint, he played for Djurgården in Sweden, where he won the 2018 Swedish Cup, and spent time in England with Birmingham City.
The addition of Mrabti is intended to bolster AEK's midfield, specifically filling the void left by Marcus Rohden. He is described as a versatile playmaker capable of operating as both an eight and a number ten, bringing experience and creativity to the Larnaca squad.
