AEL Limassol signs Portuguese midfielder Cafu

AEL Limassol has officially completed the signing of 33-year-old Portuguese midfielder Carlos Miguel Ribeiro Dias, widely known as Cafu. The player, born on February 26, 1993, has signed a contract that will keep him with the Limassol club until the summer of 2028. This move is part of the team's ongoing effort to bolster its midfield, with management aiming to add leadership, experience, and quality to their roster for the upcoming season.

Cafu brings a wealth of experience from several top European leagues, having played for clubs such as Vitoria Guimaraes, Lorient, Metz, Legia Warsaw, Olympiacos Piraeus, Nottingham Forest, and Kasimpasa, totaling over 330 professional appearances. His versatility allows him to operate effectively as both a defensive midfielder and a central "box-to-box" player.

Following the signing, the team continued its preparation in Poland, recently securing a 2-1 friendly victory against Atromitos Athens with goals from Tsatakovic and Gomis. Under coach Hugo Martins, AEL is now focusing on building squad cohesion and final preparations before the start of the domestic league, with additional friendly matches scheduled to conclude their training camp.
