AEL Limassol signs Portuguese midfielder Cafu until 2028

AEL Limassol has officially announced the signing of 33-year-old Portuguese midfielder Carlos Miguel Ribeiro Dias, widely known as Cafu, on a contract running until 2028. The deal marks a significant reinforcement for the team's midfield, with the club identifying him as a potential leader who can operate both as a defensive midfielder and an interior box-to-box player.

Cafu brings extensive experience from various European leagues, having started his career in the Benfica academy before representing clubs such as Vitoria Guimaraes, Lorient, Metz, Legia Warsaw, Olympiacos, Nottingham Forest, and Kasimpasa. Throughout his professional career, he has accumulated over 330 appearances. His tenure in Poland was particularly successful, where he secured two league titles and one Polish Cup. Sources noted that his acquisition represents the 15th roster addition for AEL during the current transfer window as the club builds a competitive squad for the upcoming season.

The signing process moved quickly following initial reports of negotiations on August 5, with the official confirmation provided by AEL FC Ltd on August 6.
