President Nikos Christodoulides announces partial cabinet reshuffle

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides announced a limited cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday evening, introducing four new appointments to his government. Tina Pavlou has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, succeeding Clea Papaellina, who will transition to the role of Deputy Minister of Culture. Additionally, Evanthia Tsolaki has been named Minister of Transport, replacing Alexis Vafeades, while Christos Senekis succeeds Maria Panayiotou as Minister of Agriculture. The reshuffle also includes the appointments of Elias Myrianthous as Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare, Eirini Poyiatzi as Citizens' Commissioner, and Panayiotis Palates as Director of the President's Office.

Government spokesman Victor Papadopoulos stated that the changes serve to maintain the center-right orientation of the administration and that the new appointees are individuals who have supported the President’s program from the outset. Despite speculation regarding a potential transfer for Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides, he will remain in his current position following reported pressure from Diko leadership. The newly appointed officials are scheduled to take their oaths of office on Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Presidential Palace, followed by the formal handover ceremonies for their respective portfolios throughout the day.
