Hybrid attack incident at Leipzig/Halle airport
On the night of August 5, 2026, German authorities launched a security investigation at Leipzig/Halle airport after a drone equipped with military-grade explosives and a detonator was discovered near a Ukrainian cargo plane carrying ammunition. Simultaneously, a DHL cargo aircraft departing from the airport reported a mid-air collision with an unknown object, forcing it to perform an emergency landing at Hannover airport.
