Cyprus commemorates 30th anniversary of Isaac and Solomou murders

Cyprus is preparing to mark the 30th anniversary of the deaths of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou with a series of memorial events scheduled for August 7 and 8, 2026. Organized by the Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality and the Isaac-Solomou Memory Initiative, the events aim to honor the memory of the two men who lost their lives in the buffer zone three decades ago.

The commemoration program begins on Friday, August 7, with a symbolic motorcycle ride through various locations in Nicosia, featuring participants from Leonidio, Greece. On Saturday, August 8, large-scale motorcycle rallies will depart from all major cities across free Cyprus at times ranging from 17:00 to 19:00, including gatherings at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia and the Pafiako Stadium in Paphos. The main memorial event is scheduled for 20:00 on Saturday at the Isaac-Solomou monument on Nikou Psara Street in Paralimni under the slogan, 'Guided by memory, compassed by freedom'.
