Cyprus marks 30th anniversary of Isaac and Solomou murders

Commemorative events are taking place across Cyprus to mark the 30th anniversary of the murders of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou. The memorial activities, organized by the Isaac-Solomou Memory Initiative in cooperation with local authorities, aim to honor the legacy of the two heroes with a series of public gatherings and protest actions.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, a motorcycle procession is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. Participants will hold a symbolic closure of the Zodeia and Astromeritis checkpoints, where they will distribute informational leaflets without obstructing public traffic. On Saturday, August 8, large-scale motorcycle rallies will depart from Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta, and Paphos at various times between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. under the slogan "guided by memory, with freedom as a compass.

The central memorial event is set for Saturday, August 8, at 8:00 p.m. at the Isaac-Solomou monument located on Nikou Psara Street in Paralimni. This year’s events, which include participants from Greece, specifically from Leonidio, conclude the series of tributes dedicated to the lives and sacrifices of Isaac and Solomou.
