Drug trafficking statistics in Cyprus for the first seven months of 2026

The Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) has reported a significant number of drug-related cases during the first seven months of 2026. Commander Christos Andreou stated that 718 investigations have been conducted so far, involving 773 individuals. These figures are noted with five months remaining in the year, compared to the 1,114 cases and 1,178 arrests recorded throughout the entire year of 2025.

Authorities have seized various illicit substances, including 273 kilograms of cannabis, 48 kilograms of cannabis resin, and 34 cannabis plants. Notably, there is a marked increase in the seizure of cocaine, rising from 51 kilograms in 2025 to 83 kilograms already in 2026. Additionally, officials identified a new trend involving poppy stems, with 60 kilograms confiscated, while quantities of captagon also show an upward trend. The unit continues its active operations to address these trafficking developments.
