Cyprus expands water conservation campaign to address rising consumption

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus is currently executing the "Water, and for tomorrow" campaign, aimed at reducing nationwide water usage. As of August 5, 2026, approximately 35% of the total allocated water-saving equipment kits, including faucet nozzles and shower flow restrictors, have been distributed to households. Distribution has concluded in the Paphos and Famagusta districts and is ongoing across the rest of the country, with completion expected by mid-September.

Despite these efforts, official data indicates that water consumption levels remain higher than those recorded during the same period last year. The Ministry has also performed targeted equipment deliveries to organized groups and high-consumption facilities. Authorities are urging citizens who have already received the kits to install them immediately, emphasizing the need for more rational water use to manage the supply effectively.
