Eurostat reports daily tobacco and related product use in Cyprus and the EU for 2025

In 2025, 22.6% of people aged 16 and older in Cyprus used tobacco or related products daily, according to data released by Eurostat on Wednesday. While this represents a slight decrease of 0.7 percentage points from 23.3% in 2022, the usage rate in Cyprus remains significantly higher than the European Union average of 16.5%. The statistics account for traditional tobacco products as well as modern alternatives such as electronic cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco products.

Demographic breakdowns for Cyprus show a significant gender gap, with 32.3% of men and 13.3% of women reporting daily use. Across the EU, the average rate for men was 20.8% and for women was 12.6%. The overall EU average declined slightly from 17.5% in 2022 to 16.5% in 2025. Furthermore, 77.5% of people across the European bloc reported not using these products at all or not having used them in the 12 months preceding the survey. The highest usage across the EU was noted in the 35 to 49 age group at 21.3%.
