Bill by Turkish government for non-prosecution of former PKK militants

The Turkish government submitted a bill to parliament on Wednesday aimed at achieving peace with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The legislation seeks to end a decades-long conflict by protecting former militants from prosecution and suspending prison sentences for those convicted. The Turkish intelligence agency (MIT) will oversee the disarmament process, while a high-level committee including government ministers will facilitate the potential return of thousands of militants currently based in northern Iraq.
