Football player killed by lightning strike in southern Thailand
A tragic incident occurred on August 5, 2026, during the Golok FA Cup 2026 football tournament at the Santiphap Stadium in the Narathiwat province, Thailand, near the Malaysian border. A 24-year-old player, identified as Safuan, was struck by a powerful lightning bolt and died instantly.
