Cabinet appoints new leadership for Cyprus public universities
The Cypriot Cabinet has finalized the appointment of new Boards for the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) following meetings held on July 22 and 30, 2026. These appointments, which follow statutory consultations with the respective Senates, set the governance structure for the next two and a half years, with terms concluding on January 21, 2029.
Andreas Yiasemides, the CEO of PwC Cyprus, has been appointed as the new President of the University of Cyprus, succeeding Tasos Anastasiou. The new board members include Menelaos Kyprianou, Nikolaos Oikonomides, and Mikaella Raspa. Meanwhile, Andreas Karakatsanis has been officially appointed as President of the TEPAK Council, following his interim tenure and the resignation of Kostas Galatariotis. He is joined by Vice-President Esthi Panagidou and council members Maria Sykopetritou, Alexandros Taliotis, Loukas Christodoulidis, Giorgos Diogenous, and Marina Nikolaou.
