Four new appointments announced in the Cypriot government cabinet

On August 6, 2026, the Cypriot government announced a new cabinet reshuffle featuring four individuals from diverse political, professional, and academic backgrounds. The appointees include former Famagusta Member of Parliament Christos Senekis, attorney and former Limassol municipal councilor Evi Tsolaki, former Paphos Member of Parliament Ilias Myrianthous, and political scientist Irini Pogiatzi.

Christos Senekis, a lawyer, international relations expert, and computer scientist born in 1977, previously served as an MP for the Democratic Party (DIKO) from 2021 to 2026. During his parliamentary tenure, he focused on social policy, human rights, refugee affairs, local government, agriculture, and environmental issues. He also represented the House of Representatives at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and previously served as the director of the Press Office of the President of the House.

This cabinet expansion integrates experienced political figures with academic experts to address ongoing national policy challenges. The move follows the completion of Senekis’s parliamentary term, as he transitions from legislative duties to his new role within the executive branch.
