Large-scale Ukrainian drone attacks target Russian refineries and infrastructure

On August 6, 2026, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the interception of 605 Ukrainian drones across approximately twenty Russian regions and the Crimean Peninsula. The attacks represent a significant escalation, with major strikes targeting energy infrastructure deep within Russian territory. Specifically, the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Bashkortostan, located over 1,300 kilometers from the front, and the Slavnet-Yanos refinery in the Yaroslavl region, 700 kilometers away, were confirmed as targets by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In the Yaroslavl region, Governor Mikhail Yevrayev confirmed that debris from drones caused a fire at a refinery, describing the event as the largest hostile attack in the region to date. Emergency crews were deployed to extinguish the blaze, which sent plumes of black smoke into the air. Separately, in the Tver region, Governor Vitaly Korolyov reported that falling drone debris caused minor damage to the facade of a warehouse owned by the e-commerce giant Wildberries. Local authorities are currently assessing the impact of these strikes as emergency operations continue at the affected industrial sites.
