Recent violent crimes reported in the northern part of Cyprus
Seven individuals were arrested in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old man in occupied Kyrenia early Thursday morning. According to reports from the local Turkish Cypriot press, the incident took place around 01:30 in the parking lot of an apartment complex following a verbal altercation. The suspects are aged between 28 and 37. One of the detainees, a 37-year-old man, is currently under medical supervision due to injuries sustained during the confrontation.
In a separate development, a suspect appeared before a court in occupied Nicosia on Wednesday following the stabbing of a young woman in a supermarket on Monday. The court ordered his detention for one day. Authorities have charged the suspect with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm, and illegal possession of a knife. Investigations revealed that the suspect previously had a relationship with the victim in Turkey and had been stalking her since their separation. He reportedly arrived in the occupied areas on July 30 and attacked the woman on August 3. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds, and her condition is reported as critical.
