Limassol municipality donates fire vehicle to Krasochoria cluster

On August 6, 2026, the Municipality of Limassol officially donated a fully equipped single-cab fire vehicle, valued at €40,000, to the Krasochoria community cluster. The handover ceremony was attended by Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis, Union of Communities President Lefteris Periklis, and various local officials, including cluster representatives Andreas Savva and Stelios Grigoriou. The vehicle will undergo final registration procedures at a local workshop before entering operational service.

This donation follows the devastating wildfires of July 2025, which caused extensive environmental and property damage in the region. In response to the crisis, the Municipality of Limassol launched a public fundraising campaign, collecting €31,346 in donations from citizens, which supported the acquisition of this equipment.

The initiative is part of a broader safety plan to improve emergency response times in villages such as Malia, Arsos, and Dora. Plans are underway to establish a central station with 24-hour coverage at a strategic location, supplemented by smaller satellite stations to ensure better service across the surrounding rural areas.
